Update for Hawea Wanaka

Latest drone image taken last week of Sticky Forest

Hi All,

As we head into 2020 we thought we should provide you with a quick update regarding our progress with Sticky Forest.

  1. Te Arawhiti, formerly the Office of Treaty Settlements have been in communication and outlined a draft timeline for the transfer of ownership to the beneficial owners and the process required to achieve the same. A copy of the latest timeline is available on out home page

  2. Te Arawhiti in conjunction with the Maori Land Court have released a revised Application to Succeed. A copy of the latest form is available on out home page

  3. This month Te Arawhiti are heading to Queenstown to address access to our land and water infrastructure upgrades with QLDC affecting our land.

  4. Mediation with the Queenstown Lake District Council for the rezoning of the land is scheduled for 3th March 2020 in Queenstown.

  5. To further advance our project we have written to the Hon Andrew Little, Hon Kelvin Davis and Hon Nanai Mahuta seeking a resolution to this outstanding matter and we are expecting a formal response by the end of January 2020.

As mentioned in previous correspondence there are a number of ways you can assist with our project.

  • Contact your local TRONT representative to advise them of our land being land locked as a result of a residential subdivision undertaken by Ngai Tahu Property in 2020.

  • Register family by applying for succession.

  • Keep checking the website over the coming months as we expect more activity.

If you have any questions please email or call Mike on 0274 331346, hopefully we can answer your questions.

We appreciate this has been an arduous process but we feel progress is being made.

Be in contact again soon.

Nga mihi,

Mike, Lorraine and Theo
